Andy Vibert and his team are creating and launching a new smartphone app called Yawper, and they are looking for college students in the Miami area who would like to gain marketing experience by helping them spread the word and promote the app, especially on campus.

Junior Orange Bowl

(2 internships below)

Position: Event Management Intern

Hours: 20 hrs/week

Primary Responsibilities

The Junior Orange Bowl is a volunteer-led, 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization that hosts athletic, academic, and cultural competitions that draw over 7,500 youth from Miami, the State of Florida, across the United States, and over 76 countries worldwide to compete. This position is responsible for providing logistical support for various special events held throughout the Junior Orange Bowl Festival Season. This position will place a heavy emphasis on event management for the more than 15 annual children’s events that make up the Junior Orange Bowl Festival. This is a volunteer position, but school semester credit can be arranged. Multiple positions available.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Communication with Volunteer Event Committee Chairs for the event logistical needs including, but not limited to, signage, lighting, audio, and miscellaneous supplies.
  • Oversee and properly install appropriate Junior Orange Bowl branded collateral (signage, tent, displays, flags, etc.) for each specific event.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors to ensure contracts are fully managed and executed at each of the event sites.
  • Maintain with accuracy contact/vendor/customer mailing lists
  • Coordinate with event day volunteer leadership to manage and meet expectations.
  • Oversee and manage delivery and distribution of, including but not limited to, the following at proper event sites
    • Event Programs
    • Event Merchandise
    • Event Awards and Trophies
  • Assist with updating social media outlets

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, be detail-oriented, and work independently

Position: Tennis Championship Intern

Dates: October – December 2015

Hours: Part-time, Flexible

Primary Responsibilities

The Junior Orange Bowl is a volunteer-led, 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization that hosts over 15 athletic, academic, and cultural competitions. This position is for the 54th Junior Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship. This championship is one of the most prestigious junior tournaments in the world and hosts more than 1,400 of the best 12 & under and 14 & under tennis players from over 74 countries. Over the past 53 years, tennis legends such as Chris Evert (USA), Mary Joe Fernandez (USA), Monica Seles (Yugoslavia), Andre Agassi (USA), Steffi Graf (Germany), and Andy Roddick (USA) have showcased their athletic talent as well as current pros, Roger Federer (SUI), Juan Martin del Potro (Argentina), Andy Murray (Great Britain), Sloane Stevens (USA), and Caroline Wozniaki (DEN). The tournament dates are December 12th- December 23rd. Hourly pay for time worked.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the preparation for the event.
  • Assist imputing player registrations, making the draws, and imputing times into Tennis Data Management.
  • Help maintain the Junior Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Assist with setting up the tournament sites before the tournament begins and with clean up after the completion of the event.
  • Assist at the sites during the event.
